About Inspired by Places
Independent since 2026
Inspired by Places is a small independent publication about a specific kind of travel: going somewhere because a film sent you there.
We cover Ghibli Park in Aichi — the one destination where the correspondence between film and place is deliberate and built — and the real forests, hot spring streets and harbour towns that people visit because they resemble animated worlds.
Our one editorial rule
We are honest about sourcing. Very few animated-film locations are officially confirmed by any studio. Most claims circulating online are fan attribution repeated until they look like fact. Where a connection is documented, we say so. Where it is a resemblance people enjoy, we say that instead. We would rather be useful than exciting.
What we cover
- Ghibli Park in Nagakute, Aichi: what it is, ticketing, routes, and realistic day plans
- Real places with film associations — Yakushima, Ginzan Onsen, Tomonoura, Dogo Onsen
- Practical planning: getting there, visiting with children, and how the Ghibli Museum differs
Editorial independence
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Studio Ghibli, Ghibli Park, the Ghibli Museum, or any park operator or tourism authority. Where we name third parties — including Ghibli Park — we do so for identification and information only. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
